DRIED HYDRANGEA

Today I bought some silk Hydrangea. I usually love dried hydrangea but these were for my kitchen and I needed something more durable. I love hydrangea ...but I especially love them when they have been dried. The colors seem to become more beautiful and take on a wonderful tissue paper look.....almost like a timeless piece of watercolor art.
I also love how the colors fit wonderfully into a FALL color palette. Fall will be here in 2 days and I know I will be lacing some of my pumpkins with delicate dried Hydrangea blooms.

VINTAGE MUST HAVES

I love all things old. I love restored items too or pieces given a new look with some Shabby Paint. I have a extensive "Vintage Gotta Have" list. Right now I am on a Vintage Camper kick. My husband and I are thinking about owning one soon. We have our eye on one and if we can arrange for us to buy it....I think we just might become Gypsies!! That would be a dream of mine come true for sure. I think these Vintage Gotta Have Items below ....will fit nicely in or attached to my Vintage Home on Wheels. Don't You?

MERMAIDS

When I was little my cousin and I use to play and pretend we were mermaids. We use to do this whenever our families went to Seattle for the day or we were catching a ferry to Bremerton. We loved it.
I use to dream for hours about living near the ocean and having a house near the beach. As I grew older....that desire  faded a bit and now I am more of a Mountain/Woodsey kinda gal. But the other day I was on facebook and I was looking at some posts from a new Facebook friend. She loves mermaids and the ocean. It instantly reminded me of my childhood wish to be a beautiful mermaid. When I sit here and think of all the ocean themed decor and all the fun things that people do at the beach.....and oh yes....the SEAFOOD.....I kinda can't believe that I changed my mind about loving the mountains and woods more. I may have to start a little mermaid collection myself soon. I know I won't be living anywhere near the beach.....and probably never will......so I think a some beach themed goodies and mermaid nick nacks will do just fine.

SHADES of WHITE

There is something about white that almost everyone loves. Some people find white to be a major risk when decorating. I love the use of all white in a room. I think what makes it so interesting is that there are so many shades of white....that it breaks the sterility of it.
Pairing a crisp white with a aged white is lovely. Even adding a delicate cream into the mixture is just as nice and it adds such wonderful depth.
Many people say...."Don't be afraid of color". Well.....I would like to say....."Don't be afraid of Whites". There are so many....that you just can't choose one....so choose them all!

FARM FRIENDS

Farm animals are my favorite. I love them to pieces. If I could have a farm I would. We live in the suburbs but there are areas not far from me where you can have horses and cows or any farm animal. My dream home would be a nice little cottage style house with a barn and some land. Not too much land but just enough for me to explore and take walks and .....oh yes.....a pond would be nice too because I love love love to go fishing.
A farm, a cottage and some sweet farm critters and I would be a happy happy camper! So....until I hit the lotto and move to the country....looking at these sweet pictures will have to suffice.

NANTUCKET

Summer days are ending quickly and FALL will be officially here on the 22nd. One of my favorite places in the world is Massachusetts. My family and I are die hard Red Sox fans and when the kids were little, we took a family vacation to Boston, New York, Rhode Island and Connecticut. I fell in love with the coastal towns, Cape Cod houses and Nantucket style of decor. I begged my husband to allow us to move there.....but coming from California....the idea of picking up and moving clear across the country was not too appealing for him. If I had to choose a coastal town to live in.....it would most certainly be the small little island off Massachusetts .....called NANTUCKET. So .....as summer winds down and the leaves starting rapidly changing.....lets enjoy the thought of one last trip to the beach or your favorite coastal destination.

AGED GLASS

Aged bottles and jars can add a great eye catching focus to a room. You can find lots of different shades and colors from soft mauves and lavenders ....to soft pales greens and muted shades of blue.
Try bunching them together on a shelf or in a window seal for some nice vintage flare.
